community task forces against illiteracy.

WHAT WE DO
Project Literacy’s mission is to provide support and promote
the expansion of adult literacy in Greater Bergen County.
The objective of the program is to assist adults confronting
life in the Bergen County area without the necessary skills
to succeed.
Our trained volunteer tutors o昀昀er free, weekly 1-on-1 adult
tutoring in: Adult Basic Literacy (reading and writing), English
as a Second Language (ESL) and Mathematics for the GED.
Several of our students have continued their education with
昀椀nancial help from Project Literacy’s Carmen Pichardo
Scholarship Fund.
Our 140+ students, aged 19-60+ live in the greater Bergen
County area, representing over 36 countries.
“As Governor, I am inspired by Project Literacy’s mission of
recognizing the importance of literacy in lifelong learning,
independence, and civic participation. Thank you for all
your indispensable work across our communities and
best wishes for continued success.”
